Where do the ducks go in the winter?
I asked a taxi driver, but he didn’t know…
I have painted and drawn for as long as I can think back.
Over time my pencil turned into a mouse, my sketchbook into a screen and somehow, somewhere, I lost the solitude of blank paper, the daydreaming silences and my inner voice. Then I rediscovered photography. The joy of making images and telling small stories brought these moments of insight back.
This is not a lofty goal, nor a unique one, to be sure, but it is quite enough for me to begin with. My pictures are the book jackets for stories I have not written, and never could have written, because they are not stories that can be told in words. I maximise my satisfaction by incorporating as many hidden messages as possible into my pictures.
These messages can only be decoded by playing the photographs backwards.
